yes, i’m scared
since I know I’ll never be certain
of what lies ahead of me
that no one can ensure me
not even those that read palmistry

I’ve asked those that have gone beyond me
yet they say
no, it’s not going to always be easy
that you’ll figure out eventually how deep it will be
so all you can do
is pull out your feet
spread out those wings
start that step
and hope you don’t ever need
to look back in agony.
