to be number one

Horee....finally Indonesia has something 'first' in SE Asia, for a change (at least that I am aware of *grin*)
Frankly I'm a bit tired of reading Spore boasting about its first-this&that-in-the-world, world-class blah, etc.... Just the other day I saw a commercial about this piece of jewellry, how it was the world's first purple jewel neclace or something. Okay, that does sound impressive, but once you give it a second or too, you wonder whether these types of coloured jewels (i think it was pearl or something) are actually pretty common (pardon moi, je ne suis pas un bijoutier :P), its just that now they sell it in purple....Duh!
Yes, you can always hand it to Spore for its loaded marketing efforts...

Update:
I checked the ad again, it was actually about a purple gold necklace. And as I recall, my mother in 1986 had bought herself a three-colour-gold ring....hmmmm so its only now they've invented the purple colour one? come on....
btw, that lovely ring was stolen when our house was robbed years ago....ouch :(

as green as it gets...

seems like the air is weighing pretty heavy tonight.
nothing seems right, but somehow, i feel hope.
kinda...

Hand In My Pocket
Alanis Morissette

I'm broke but I'm happy
I'm poor but I'm kind
I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah
I'm high but I'm grounded
I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed
I'm lost but I'm hopeful baby

What it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be fine fine fine
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a high five

I feel drunk but I'm sober
I'm young and I'm underpaid
I'm tired but I'm working, yeah
I care but I'm worthless
I'm here but I'm really gone
I'm wrong and I'm sorry baby

What it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be quite alright
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is flicking a cigarette

What it all comes down to
Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving the peace sign

I'm free but I'm focused
I'm green but I'm wise
I'm shy but I'm friendly baby
I'm sad but I'm laughing
I'm brave but I'm chicken sh*t
I'm sick but I'm pretty baby

And what it all boils down to
Is that no one's really got it figured out just yet
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is playing the piano

What it all comes down to my friends
Is that everything's just fine fine fine
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is hailing a taxicab...

yes, when we're all green life seems helpless, then when you're ripe, you might just miss those silly scary feelings again, somehow.

those signs ahead

There are times when you wonder whether words are being shouted to you from above.
No, not in letter form but more in signage.
Signage that you wonder whether decoding them needs to be this way or the other.
And you wonder whether you are being just too self cautious and paranoid or right on track.
Yes, life is full of signage.
Those that are to be decoded now,
And those that will always remain a mystery.

Good night everyone.

on a full moon like this

Had a pretty interesting day, as I believe today I was much healthier than I have been in ages :P
Today I did a biathlon without intending to :)

What happened was, I got a bit bored this afternoon rambling around in my apartment from one thing to the other, and thought about taking out my running shoes but then got inspired by the nice breeze and the blue water from the pool below.

So decided to take a dip instead; made about 7 laps around the pool (believe me the pool is not Olympic size :P). and after getting dressed, chatted with a friend on YM and took up an impromptu tennis invitation. So those tennis shoes actually did get to see the light of day (well, evening that is ;) after sitting put in my room for months since I brought them here.

So, here I am after a 2 hour tennis game and nasi goreng with prawn accompanied by my old time favorite teh tarik (with ice this time), taking a breath and getting ready for a warm bath and good book just before heading to lala land.
What a day ;)

one's heart's riches

Funny how sometimes you feel like the end is all too near, and that hope is far away. Well, it’s always good to take a step back and observe; take a look at your inventory and realize; Nope, hope is indeed close by and God does love you very very much.

For me, my inventories include:
- a wonderful grandmother who likes to hug me and be hugged, tells me stories and listens to mine
- 2 incredible parents who have been there for me through and through
- 3 crazy yet lovable brothers who I don’t think I could have grew up with out
- 3 sister in laws who are God’s wonderful gifts
- 2 handsome lovable, huggable nephews who I adore so very much
- a handful of Aunts and Uncles who are incredibly nice and thoughtful
- a bunch of cousins who are fun to be with
- 3 amazing second cousins once removed who are just perfect
- tons of beautiful kind hearted friends, ones that are definitely worth the while

Yes, life is great.

pinta yang sederhana

pada suatu malam yang terang, ia berdoa:

wahai Dzat yang membolak balikkan hati,
tetapkan hati ku dalam agama Mu,
tetapkan hatiku pada ajaran Mu
mantapkan lah hatiku

semoga Tuhan meng-ijabi.

bahkan dalam kelabu

kala senja menutupi langitku yang biru
dan awan datang menghampiri
gentar aku tidak.
karena yakin ku mengatakan
bahkan dibalik langit kelam ku....
Ada senyum mu.

deep losses...

At times you’re consoled, and at other times you console others...

Around subuh this morning I got a phone call from my friend, a phone call I had anticipated from late last night as he was updating me on the situation at home, his father had been pretty ill these past few weeks, and last night it got worse.
But that phone call this morning had news I had not really anticipated...,
his father passed away....

Mr. Hasjim Aldjoeffry was a really wonderful and very kind man. If you had the opportunity to meet him, I’m sure you’d like him, just like I did.

"Innalillahi Wa innaa ilaihi Raaji'un"
[To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return]

May his dad be granted with Jannah, and may the Almighty grant him ease and comfort in his eternal abode and give strength and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this immense loss.

QS: Al Baqarah: 155-156
"Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere. Who say, when afflicted with calamity: "To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return".
